Environmental Engagement in Orthodox Day Schools: An Educational Strategy

Canfei Nesharim developed an educational strategy surrounding Environmental Engagement in Orthodox Day Schools, which identified the best products, plans, and venues with which to integrate environmental consciousness and action into Orthodox day schools. Ignition Grantee Reflections: Impacts and Learnings “Where are we now, what did we accomplish, and what have we learned?” “The grant was incredibly valuable to us. We used it for igniting — to begin the process of Torah-based environmental education in Orthodox day schools which had never been done before. The project enabled us to create a strategy for engagement of Orthodox day schools, build connections with key educators, and create curriculum to be used in Orthodox day schools. These materials were used by schools, and still exist on our website. As time went by we were pleased to partner with other schools as outgrowths of this work, for example with Ramaz in its 2013 Yom Iyun and commitment to sustainability as a theme for their year.” —Evonne Marzouk, Project Director
